The CAP-a-thon Countdown Is On! Get Ready To Write!

Won't you join me in CAP on November 1st?

All you need to do is pull those old, uncompleted projects out of the drawer or file and give them a second look. Can you finish it/them? How many can you reasonably complete in a month's time? It might not be as difficult as you think.

Sometimes all it takes is a little "boost" from fellow writers to kick us into high gear. So if you're NOT doing NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month), come and do CAP with me.

Complete as many unfinished projects as you can in the month of November and post here on my blog at least once a week to let everyone know of your progress. Let's cheer each other on!

CAP begins November 1st, but it's not too early to dust off those old manuscripts. Go ahead and start digging them out.

Check back later in the week to see what's going on.

Hope to see you here!

  1. Well, I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year so I'll be working on something new rather than dusting off old WIP. Not that I don't already have a ton of WIP, lol. I'll still post my word counts here too. Good luck and Happy Writing, everyone :-)

  2. Hi Kimberley,

I'm not doing Nano this year. Every year I think I'll do it, but then I chicken out at the very last minute. LOL I think it's because I know the holidays are coming and I've got so much going on in real life that I don't want to just say I'm going to do Nano and then give it up a week into it. So CAP is PERFECT for me! I have several things I need to work on --edits for a contemporary romantic suspense I just finished and need to submit, a short story that I'm halfway through, and another one that I am about 1/3 of the way through. This is what I can think of off the top of my head. Thanks for doing this--it sounds like fun!

  4. Kimberly! I DID IT RIGHT THAT TIME!!! LOL I have a cousin who spells her name Kimberley, so I did that the first two times I commented. DUH. Blonde moment. Sorry I spelled it wrong!

  5. I'm not doing Nano either so I'm game for this one. I've got so many unfinished pieces I need to get done, this sounds more up my alley. The last thing I need to do is start another one.

  6. I'm not doing Nano this year either, and I was wishing there was something like this! I have four revise/resubmits to complete, along with two short stories to write, two pre-submission revisions, and who knows what my publishers will send to me on stuff that's already contracted. I've been dealing with some family issues lately that have stressed me to the point of not working as diligently as I want to, so your CAP will be a great way for me to get back on track. Thanks for doing it!

  7. Hi Kimberly,

I think I can do this. LOL I have a couple that could stand to be finished. I'm not doing NANO, but this sounds like fun.

  8. I'm not doing NANO. I might give this one a try. I have a few that need to be completed.

  9. Missy, please DO post your word counts. We'll be looking for them. Maybe it will inspire me (and others) even more to get longer works finished sooner. Glad to see you here. Have a great writing day!

  10. Hi Karen. Good to see you. I can't do NANO either simply because of the time it requires, but I CAN work on those unfinished projects and try to get as many as possible completed. I'm glad you're here. Please post your word or page counts to help keep everyone inspired.

This DOES sound fun--as well as productive. Please post and let us know your progress.

  12. NANO slows me down, but I do this sort of CAP a couple times a year. I call it Brenna Barrage, because of a comment an old EIC made about the times when I set out to finish as many projects as possible.

I'm in! It's about time for me to do this again, anyway.

  13. Thanks Karenna! I understand about family issues. Well I hope CAP is helpful to you and that you're able to find some quiet time in the midst of everything and be able to focus on writing a bit more. Share your daily word or page progress or cry on our shoulder. Thanks for joining us.

  14. Sandy, I feel the same way. I have work that needs completion, and although I have ideas for new projects, I feel it's time to get these others out of the way. NANO is fine if you have the time, but I just don't right now and first, I need to focus on what I do have. Thanks for joining us!

  15. Hi Cheryl. That's why I started CAP. The holidays come all too quickly for me, too, and it's just not possible for me to do NANO. Maybe some year I will, but right now, I just want to get the others finished and ready to submit. Glad to see you here. Post your word or page counts if you'd like.

  16. Hi Brenna! Good to see you here. I like that...
"Brenna Barrage." LOL! Let us know your progress on your work. I want to keep everyone (including myself) motivated and writing happily.

  17. (surfed in from LRC, I believe) This is a fantastic idea, and I totally doing this! I've got a couple of novellas I've been working on off and on for a while, and this will be the perfect incentive to get my butt in gear. And I thought I'd get out of things by skipping NaNo this year. Ha!

  18. Hi Elizabeth! Welcome. Feel free to post your progress -- either daily or as often as you can. We need to help keep each other inspired!

My hope is that everyone will have finished at least ONE project and maybe even more. Who knows, getting all these incomplete WIP's out of the way might make way for new ideas.

  19. Yesterday, I finished a short story that I'd promised for an anthology honoring a writing friend of mine (I think I wrote about 1200 words) and revised about 30 pages in a novel I'm planning to submit at the end of the week.

  20. Great going, Karenna! Sounds like you had a very productive day. Keep up the good work!

  21. Thanks, Kimberly!

I keep forgetting to post... But I revised the short story and got it submitted, finished revising the novel and submitted that, and submitted another short story that I already had finished.
